Lace from Evgenia Kanaeva’s apparatus 8. Names of gymnastic apparatus

Gymnastics is not just a sports discipline that helps to achieve great results, it is also an entire industry, including sports schools, clubs and children's clubs. Accordingly, they need to be filled with attributes; let's talk about the name of gymnastic equipment and attributes for this sport.

Gymnastics

Gymnastics all-around is very spectacular, one might even say extreme. Various complex and dangerous tricks are performed on special equipment - a log, rings, a horse, bars of different heights (they also say uneven bars) and a crossbar. There are also floor exercises, they take place on special mats, a special gymnastic carpet, but it can hardly be called an apparatus.

Bars

Gymnastic bars are two poles 3.5 meters long, they run parallel. To make them, hardwoods are taken - for example, birch, beech or ash. But this is not enough to withstand overloads; steel rods are sewn into them.

Gymnastic poles are connected by special swivels, which are connected like hinges, so the width of the poles can be easily adjusted to the athlete. The height is also easy to change - the racks are not solid, but telescopic. To make the projectile resistant, the frame is made of cast iron.

Gymnastic bars come in four types, differing both in height and in the distances between parallel poles - high men's, uneven-height women's, low mass universal. They produce four types of bars: men's for competitions (high), women's (uneven-high), mass (low), universal. Women's ones are additionally secured with stretch marks.

Crossbar

The crossbar for men is often called a horizontal bar. According to the standard, this is a steel rod 2.4 meters long and 28 millimeters in diameter. The support is on a telescopic stand to make it possible to quickly change the height. Stability is provided by four guy wires, each consisting of two cables, a hook and a chain for greater strength. The tension cables are connected with a lanyard - a special screw hook, with the help of which the length of the cables is changed.

Plain steel is not suitable for the crossbar; the highest quality steel is used, which is used for high-strength springs and springs. These implements come in competition and all-round versions, which are adjustable to a minimum height of 2.45 meters and 1.45 meters.

Rings

Rings for gymnastics are sold as a set - two wooden rings, two leather belts with which they are suspended and two cables. The rings must be made of wood with great hardness, mainly beech and ash. The diameter inside the ring is 18 centimeters, they are 2.8 centimeters thick.

Belts come in mass-produced and workshop varieties; they are attached to the cable with special hinges that prevent twisting during the exercise. In the ceiling of the hall there are special blocks through which these projectiles are thrown.

The log is a purely female projectile. This is a wooden beam (coniferous wood with hard veneer) on two supports made of metal (pipes with a height-regulating device).

There are such types of logs - low, the height of which is constant, 40 centimeters, universal, the height can be changed (maximum 1.2 meters), the coating can be hard or soft. It is five meters long and 10 centimeters wide.

The horse has a body 1.6 meters long and 0.35 meters wide, height - 0.28 meters, height above the floor - 1.1 meters. This projectile must be stable, the metal supports, which are called legs, are spread very wide. But the “legs” can be changed in length, thus changing the height.

The horse is made of wood, covered with layers of felt (or rubber), bag fabric and a leather cover on top. The weight can exceed 100 kilograms, so it is often equipped with rollers that recline on two legs. There are different types of horses.

Horse for jumping without handles, height for women - 1.2 meters, for men - 1.35 meters. A universal horse with a height of 0.9 to 1.35 meters, it is used for both swings and jumps.

A goat (jumping, flying) is used in schools; it is similar to a horse and differs in length - 0.67 meters.

The bridge is used to spring athletes when jumping. It is made of plywood, rubber flooring. Two springs are inserted, one can be manually added by adjusting the spring forces.

Gymnastics

The gymnastics mat has an area of 13 square meters, with safety zones along the edges.

Inventory is strictly regulated:

  • jump rope - only from natural hemp and similar materials, ribbon - from five to seven meters long, the holder must be in the form of a stick with a length of 0.6 to 0.7 meters;
  • the hoop can be plastic or wooden with an internal diameter of 0.8 to 0.9 meters and weighing at least 0.3 kilograms;
  • ball - plastic or rubber with a diameter of at least 0.2 meters and a weight of 0.4 kilograms;
  • clubs are made of plastic or can be wooden with a minimum weight of 0.15 kilograms and a minimum length of 50 centimeters.

Attributes

Gymnastics has a variety of equipment, which is made for both professionals and amateurs. Its main types are listed below.

Making a mat

The mats are made as follows: take a shoe tent (fabric for making shoes) or canvas or tarpaulin. A mat is sewn (180 by 120 by 8 centimeters), evenly and tightly stuffed with wool, cotton floss, sea grass or horsehair. The cover is made of leather or leather substitutes; handles are made of similar materials.

A medicine ball is made from a tire (leather), which is cut into many pieces, the number of which reaches ten, stitched with seams, and a lining is sewn inside. They are stuffed with different materials - wool, sea grass, hair, bast (young linden fiber).

Jump ropes come in long and short varieties. Short ones are made from rope with a cross-section of 8 millimeters, length from two to two and a half meters. Short ones are also made from rubber, half a centimeter in diameter and 2.65 meters long. Long ones - made of rope from four to five meters long.

It is attached to ropes or cables that are suspended from blocks. There are two types of belts - suspended and manual. Recently they have been made from synthetic materials.

Jumping bar

The plank is a standard length of 3.64 meters and a standard triangle section with equal sides of three centimeters and is made of birch, ash or pine.

Gymnastic weights

Gymnastic weights have a weight from half a kilogram to eight kilograms, the weight difference is half a kilogram. Although it’s easier to say dumbbells for this weight.

Young gymnast Evgenia Kanaeva is a two-time Olympic champion in rhythmic gymnastics and a three-time world champion in all-around. In 2009 she received the title of Honored Master of Sports of Russia.

Childhood and youth

Evgenia Kanaeva was born on April 2, 1990 in the distant northern city of Omsk. Zhenya’s mother is a famous athlete, master of sports in rhythmic gymnastics Svetlana Kanaeva. Knowing what difficulties the girl would face on the path to fame, she did not send her daughter to a sports school. Her grandmother intervened in Evgenia’s fate. Seeing the girl’s desire to become a gymnast, she insisted that the child be given a chance and, when she was 6 years old, she herself took her granddaughter to rhythmic gymnastics classes.

Young Zhenya showed interest in sports and began intensive training. She stayed for a long time after classes, mastering complex elements. The grandmother supported the girl and waited in the hallway for several hours so that she would not return home late at night alone.

Evgenia Kanaeva once recalled an interesting fact from her biography in an interview. As a child, she was ridiculed because she was overweight and had club feet. And it’s funny, because with a height of 172 cm, the girl weighs 42 kg, and her sports records speak for themselves.

Gymnastics

When Evgenia turned 12 years old, she had the chance to show off her skills. The girl was lucky enough to go to the capital for a sports training camp. Moscow liked the young athlete and soon received an invitation to study at the Olympic Reserve School.

The girl accepted the offer and began studying under the strict guidance of Vera Shtelbaums. Vera Shtelbaums has extensive coaching experience, so she was able to choose the right exercises for Evgenia’s performances, which subsequently led the girl to numerous victories.

2003 was a turning point in the career of the young athlete. Evgenia went to the Japanese championship to win and became the best among juniors. The victory allowed the girl to get to Novogorsk and begin serious training with the Russian rhythmic gymnastics team. There the girl’s athletic talent was revealed to the maximum.

At the beginning of Evgenia Kanaeva’s sports career, the reason why her mother did not send her child to sports as a child came to light: severe competition did not allow the athlete to get into the national team.

The couple's acquaintance cannot be called romantic. They first met in the emergency room a year before the Olympic Games in London. Then both received minor injuries. Immediately after the Summer Olympics, Igor made an official marriage proposal to Zhenya. A year after the wedding, the couple had a son, who was named Vladimir.

Before we met, Zhenya’s husband became famous for his drunken antics. Therefore, sometimes you can see information about divorce on the Internet. However, this fact has never been confirmed. Friends of the couple noticed that Igor has changed a lot after meeting Evgenia, and they do not intend to get a divorce.

Evgenia Kanaeva now

In 2017, in an interview with a sports newspaper, Evgenia Kanaeva said that after the Olympics, coaches were waiting for the girl to return to sports. But training and injuries exhausted the athlete so much that she decided to devote herself to coaching. The young girl has turned into a patient mentor and now happily educates the young athletes of the Russian national team.

Five years ago, Evgenia graduated from the Siberian State University of Physical Culture and Sports.

Evgenia Kanaeva maintains a microblog in "Instagram", where the girl’s many fans can see personal photos, as well as videos from old performances of their favorite gymnast.

Gymnastics

The individual all-around competition in rhythmic gymnastics became a triumph for 18-year-old athlete from Omsk Evgenia Kanaeva. The gymnast, whose chances of getting into the national team a year ago seemed close to zero, was head and shoulders above her much more experienced rivals in Beijing. And yesterday the Russian team won gold in group exercises. Kommersant correspondent ALEXEY DOSPEKHOV watched the victories of Russian gymnasts.

Half an hour passed from the moment when the pink ribbon, which had just bent into unimaginable figures at the will of the hands of Evgenia Kanaeva under “Moscow Nights Podmoskovnye Evenings”, finally froze - the last object with which the gymnasts worked on Saturday, and she, looking at the scoreboard, was convinced that remained first, and burst into tears, hugging Belarusian Inna Zhukova, who understood that she would become second. All the worst things for Kanaeva’s coach Vera Shtelbaums were over - and she calmly, as if about something everyday and ordinary, talked about things that could not be called everyday and ordinary.

Just a year ago, only those who were very deeply immersed in the world of rhythmic gymnastics knew that Vera Shtelbaums had raised another wonderful “artist” in Omsk. Shtelbaums already saw colossal potential in this always extremely collected girl, but the Russian national team seemed to have an excellent replacement for the Athens champion and vice-champion Alina Kabaeva and Irina Chashchina, who had retired from their careers. Olga Kapranova and Vera Sesina won tournaments, and what was the point of including a debutant in the lineup instead of them? “Even six months ago we had no idea that we would go to the Olympics,” admitted Vera Shtelbaums. “No, of course, we were still preparing, thinking: maybe it will work out. But there was no confidence.”

But, it seems, not only six months before the Olympics, but much earlier, the coach was confident that if Evgenia Kanaeva had a chance, she would take advantage of it. Vera Shtelbaums talked about what was striking about Kanaeva - kindness, intelligence and fantastic hard work: “No, nature endowed her, of course, with flexibility, let’s say. But flexibility alone is not enough. For example, my student Ira Chashchina’s jump was from nature. And Zhenya had to develop it. But she worked so hard that in the end it began to work out."

Shtelbaums was also struck by Kanaeva’s completely un-youthful character. She recalled a story related to last year's European Championships in Baku. The head coach of the Russian national team, Irina Viner, decided to include Evgenia Kanaeva in the team at the last moment, when it became known that Alina Kabaeva, who wanted to return to the sport, would not be able to compete due to injury: “They called us two days before the tournament - we were at that time at the training camp in Italy. And nothing, Zhenya came, performed and won."

After that victory in the ribbon exercises, she began to regularly take first place at the World Cup. And finally, Irina Viner was saved from the headache about whether or not to take Kanaeva to the Olympics, Vera Sesina’s ankle injury and the brilliant performance of yesterday’s debutant at the June European Championships in Turin. There she received the best marks in all exercises, beating both Olga Kapranova and last year's absolute world champion Anna Bessonova from Ukraine.

Vera Shtelbaums calmly recalled the Beijing qualification. Evgenia Kanaeva made a ridiculous mistake, as her coach called it, by dropping her jump rope. Shtelbaums said that she understood: it was a consequence of the fact that for some reason her gymnast was not allowed to warm up, having been kept for several minutes before the performance in the corridor leading to the platform. And I understood that in other conditions such a mistake should not be repeated. Interestingly, she really did not have any doubts about the strength of the student’s nerves, and in fact believed that the proven way was to tell her before going out in public that she should treat these competitions not as an Olympics, but as a house management championship, — will it be effective?

And then there was the final. Amazing ending. There were tragedies and dramas. Kapranova’s mace fell (third type), because of which she, even having worked hard with the ribbon, lost her medal. Bessonova's tears. The Ukrainian was shocked that she received a low score for the exercises with clubs, but still managed to reach the bronze award.

And Evgenia Kanaeva, from subject to subject, without making any mistakes, increased her advantage. This could only be seen a few years ago - when Alina Kabaeva won in exactly the same way, leaving no hope for her rivals.

I asked the coach what her gymnast is so strongest at that she takes first place with a gap of more than three and a half points over her closest competitor, the magnificent gymnast Zhukova. “So you saw everything yourself,” Shtelbaums was surprised. “The fact that she makes the elements more complex and cleaner than others. Did you notice, for example, that she had no steps? And we also try to make everything easy and concise. So that the viewer gets the impression that all this is not difficult at all.”

And Evgenia Kanaeva was asked another question about Alina Kabaeva, who is no less popular in China than in Russia. The meaning was this: for many years in rhythmic gymnastics there was the era of Kabaeva, but now, apparently, the era of Kanaeva is coming? “I don’t think about any eras,” answered the girl, who became a little less serious than usual for a moment. “I just love performing and making my coach and fans happy.” And yet, the era of Evgenia Kanaeva in rhythmic gymnastics, apparently, has already arrived.

The next day, in the same hall, Russia’s second gymnastics victory took place. Completely different compared to Kanaeva’s victory. In group exercises, the Russian team had to withstand real, rather than formal competition. Elena Posevina, one of the five winning gymnasts, was not lying at all when she said that it was a difficult success.

In qualifying, the Russian team lost to the Belarusians, and before the final, gold did not look like a guaranteed metal for them. But she performed both exercises with skipping ropes, as well as clubs and hoops, almost perfectly. And the Belarusians, together with the Chinese who sensationally jumped into second place, were left behind.

Alexey Kommersant-Dospehov

In 2009, Zhenya was awarded the title of “Honored Master of Sports of Russia,” and after 3 years she became vice-president of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation. She compensated for the lack of constant and exhausting training with studies, her favorite painting activities and some advertising contracts. Having worked to the maximum of her capabilities and earned all acceptable awards, breaking records and setting new ones, Zhenya Kanaeva deservedly received the right to a measured personal life. To this day, Evgenia shows perseverance and hard work, now training Russian gymnasts and instilling in them the desire to win.

Success and personal life

Zhenya never flaunted her personal life, rightly believing that only her sporting achievements are the pride of the country, and personal aspects belong only to her. In June 2013, everyone suddenly learned about Kanaeva’s marriage to hockey player Igor Musatov. The young couple met 2 years before the wedding, having received minor injuries during training and meeting in the emergency room. Immediately after Zhenya’s success at the London Olympics, Igor asked the girl to marry.

The young couple met 2 years before the wedding, having received minor injuries during training and meeting in the emergency room.

The wedding brought together Eugenia’s closest people, who were directly involved in her success. All the girls from the Russian team were here, as well as Irina Viner. Evgenia’s wedding dress was made by Marina Gogua, the designer of all the athlete’s swimsuits, in which she so successfully performed exercises with a ball and other equipment.

A year after the wedding, in March 2014, Vladimir Musatov was born, the long-awaited baby in the family of Evgenia Kanaeva. And although the latest news about Kanaeva tried to hint at a possible divorce of the couple, the family continues to live happily. Having honestly earned every gram of her medals through hellish labor, Evgenia Kanaeva, more than anyone else, deserves measured and quiet happiness.

Russian gymnastics is rightfully proud of a whole galaxy of beautiful artists who compete with honor for the title of the strongest at major championships and become Olympic medalists. One of them is Evgenia Kanaeva.

First steps

It all started back in 1996, when a six-year-old girl, Zhenya, was brought by her grandmother to coach Elena Arais. Arais, who was starting her coaching career at that time, invested all her knowledge, skill and passion for rhythmic gymnastics into the girl.

Fortunately, the seeds fell into fertile soil: Zhenya’s mother is a master of sports in rhythmic gymnastics. From her mother and grandmother, the girl inherited a love of gymnastics, sports stubbornness and the ability to achieve her goals at the cost of many hours of training. And the grandmother became a faithful companion for her beloved granddaughter at the beginning of her sports career - she accompanied her everywhere to training and competitions.

Older athletes could also envy little Zhenya’s tenacity: Arais admired the amazing desire of a very little girl to complicate her training and include new elements in her program.

First victories

At the age of twelve, Evgenia, as a member of the Omsk juniors, participated in a sports training camp in Moscow, where she attracted the attention of coach Amina Zaripova. Since then, Zhenya has continued training in the capital. During this period, her coach Vera Shtelmbaus, Elena Arais’ mother, had a great influence on her. Shtelmbaus at that time was the personal trainer of another famous gymnast from Omsk, Irina Chashchina, and did not ignore her daughter’s pupil.

The young gymnast’s sporting success and perseverance attracted the attention of the national team’s head coach, Irina Viner. Irina Aleksandrovna was able to discern enormous potential in the girl and decided that it would be useful for her to train among famous athletes. Kanaeva was asked to continue training at the Novogorsk training center, where the training base for members of the Russian national team was located. The girl was lucky - Vera Shtelmbaus also worked there, so the decision to transfer to the center was made by mutual consent. Evgenia’s love for rhythmic gymnastics, her athletic perseverance and talent never made the coaches doubt the correctness of their choice.

Path to Olympus

Despite the natural talent and the enormous tenacity with which Zhenya trained, her ascent to the sports podium cannot be called easy. All places in the team were occupied until 2007, when, due to a serious injury, Alina Kabaeva withdrew from the team preparing for the European Championship in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku.

All this time, Evgenia Kanaeva trained persistently and hard, mastering more and more complex elements and honing her skills. Therefore, to replace the venerable Kabaeva, who dropped out of the national team, Wiener took her. True, so far the coach has risked entrusting Evgenia with only the performance with the ribbon. However, even then the young athlete was able to achieve the attention and recognition of fans and judges by winning gold.

And just a few months later, Zhenya achieved another gold - in the team competition at the World Championships in Patras, Greece. Since then, Evgenia has declared herself as a strong athlete who is ready to compete for Olympic medals.

Olympic takeoff

2008 started well for Kanaeva. Already in the spring of the same year, at the Russian Championship, she confidently became the absolute champion of the country. This season, Zhenya managed to take the main prize at all stages of the Grand Prix and World Cup, where the artist took part, and later at the European Championship. Even then, the media started talking about the gymnast as the main contender for gold at the upcoming Olympics.

And the predictions came true! In Beijing, Evgenia Kanaeva showed the best result of 75.5 points. She beat her closest rival, Belarusian athlete Inna Zhukova, by 3.5 points. The gymnast spectacularly repeated her success in London.

After retiring from big-time sports, Zhenya Kanaeva did not part with her favorite job: today she is a young coach of the Russian youth team. Evgenia instills a love of rhythmic gymnastics and sports skills in teenagers aged 12–14, considering it not a job, but a gift of fate.
