Some argue that the allegedly famous collection "Tales of Mother Goose" belongs to the pen of his son Pierre, others - that Charles signed the tales with his name. Upon reaching adulthood, Charles studied law with a private teacher and in 1651, having received a law degree, worked as a lawyer for some time. He later became a clerk in his brother's architecture department, rising to the rank of royal councilor, building inspector and head of the King's Glory and the Writers' Committee.
In 1683, his patron died, and the successful Perrault fell out of favor, having lost his pension and the post of secretary. Then he created the first masterpieces, each of which today can be found and listened to on the Internet online:
